East African Educational Publishers Runs Grand-Draw for the Ngugi wa Thiong’o Readers’ Contest
East African Educational Publishers Limited (EAEP), the leading educational and literary works publisher in Kenya has been running the Ngugi wa Thiongo Readers Contest for the last 4 Months.
EAEP, well known for its diversity in story books & novels across different demographic segments has used this opportunity to distribute over 50,000 books in 300 titles to various Primary and Secondary Schools in Kenya.
The contest attracted over 16,000 participants across the country. Each participant was required to write an essay and answer specific competition questions.
EAEP is therefore pleased to announce winners of the grand-draw today 22nd November 2011.
Selected participating schools in 10 regions will each get a library voucher worth Kshs.250,000/= plus a Library computer. Top 3 students in each region will get laptops, books and various cash awards.
The key objective of the contest was to promote and cultivate a reading culture among learners by encouraging reading for pleasure. Wide reading of creative works should enable children to naturally improve their written as well as spoken English.
