  Africa Writes Back
The African Writers Series & the Launch of African Literature

On 17th September, 2008, East African Educational Publishers launched Africa Writes Back: The African Writers Series & the Launch of African Literature at the newly refurbished National Museums of Kenya.

The book, which has been written by James Currey and published by his self-titled publishing firm, James Currey Ltd, was launched at the Hall of Kenya gallery in the new wing of the Museum.

Africa Writes Back captures the energy of literary publishing in a new and undefined field. Portraits of the leading characters and the many consultants and readers providing reports and advice to new and established writers make Africa Writes Back to stand out. James Currey's voice and insights are an added bonus.

James Currey was the Editorial Director at Heinemann Educational Books in charge of the African Writers Series from 1967 to 1984. This period saw the coming to birth and flowering of writing in Africa and obviously provided a foundation for modern creative writing in Africa.

East African Educational Publishers has for some time now partnered with James Currey Ltd for co-publication of various titles and distribution of all James Currey Publications in Kenya. EAEP is thus proud to make the book locally available to literary enthusiasts in Kenya.
