|
Onduko bw'Atebe was born in 1967 in Ekerenyo Division, Nyamira district. He grew up in Mureni village where he attended St. Mary's Mosocho Primary School then progressed to Kabianga High School for his O levels in 1984.
Onduko's inspiration to write started in 2001 when he found himself in a police cell after being suspected of harbouring stolen property.

His experience in the police cell inspired him to write his first novel The Verdict of Death , which was published and launched by E.A.E.P in 2006. This exceptional novel won first prize in the prestigious Wahome Mutahi Literary Award in 2006. Onduko is a fulltime writer. He enjoys reading all kinds of books, as he regards himself as someone who appreciates well written work. Being a wide reader, Onduko enjoys reading both local and foreign publications. He gets inspiration from writers like Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Chinua Achebe and Meja Mwangi whom he views as great storytellers.
